Dr. Paul Jacobs, known affectionately as “Doc”, was born in Highland Park, Illinois. At age 17, he joined the US Navy as a junior in high school. He went on active duty after graduating high school and served from 1965 to 1971. Afterward, he went on to attend Prince Georges College in Maryland, and then graduated with his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.
Dr. Jacobs has been married to his wife Rhoda since 1967. Together, they have raised four children, and have welcomed nine amazing grandchildren into the Jacobs family. Dr. Jacobs and his family have been residents of Pomona, Illinois since 1976. Shortly after graduation, he continued the family business of owning and operating an optometric practice with several locations throughout Southern Illinois. He and his wife also started Von Jakob Vineyard in Alto Pass 21 years ago.
Doc and Rhoda enjoy spending their free time with their family, cooking, traveling and taking care of their adorable Maltese dogs, Simon and Theodora.
